Sarnia Section President's Message

September 2008

Here we are again, launching another ISA Year, and 2008-2009 promises to be just as stimulating as our 60th Anniversary Year (2007-2008). In Sarnia, we have demonstrated once again that we have a strong, active section that is world class. Perhaps to some, that sounds like an exagerration. However, I must point out that once again, ISA Sarnia Section has won the designation of Best Section of all Small Gold ISA Sections in the world in 2007-2008.

This is certainly not the first time Sarnia has won this award. To be honest, I've lost count, but I'm certain that we have achieved this designation consecutively for at least 8 or 9 years. I must thank all of the members of the Sarnia Section Executive for all of their hard work over the past year, for the dedicated members of our executive are truly our "secret weapon".

There are some section executive members that I particularly want to congratulate at this time. To begin, I want to congratulate Kalpen Vachharajani who is working hard (as usual) and doing a great job in his new new role of District Vice President in Area 13. Next, I want to extend hearty congratulations Randy Dennie, who has been a pillar of strength and industry in our section over the years. On 13 October, Randy will be receiving the ISA Golden Achievement Award at the annual ISA AwardS Gala in Houston. Well done Randy, what an honour for a great member of our section!

I'm going to reserve the last word of congratulations for our next dinner meeting. We have a hard-working, long-serving, but very quiet and humble member who has done an enorous amount of work for this section over the years. Truth be known, the member I am speaking of has done as much, or more, than anyone to help Sarnia Section win Best Section over the past many years. To learn more about this member, please come to our next dinner meeting on 29 September.

Finally, I want to remind everyone that we have entered into a ISA Show year. Thinking about our upcoming show has lead me to refect upon the many, many great shows that ISA Sarnia has held over decades. How many new technologies were introduced, how many big deals were made and how many new friendly relationships commenced at ISA Shows? Our next ISA Show promises to be the best ever. Show Chair Brad King and his committee have big plans that will bring excellent value to exhibitors attendees alike. If you are in business, you shouldn't miss this opportunity to highlight your best product lines, and if you work in one of the key local industries, support companies or engineering consultant firms, come and learn about all the great new technologies, processes and services available today
